have coil - last period felt like a miscarriage

I have a non hormone coil. It has been fine for a few years now and has suitable form of contraception for me, until now.

A few weeks ago I felt pregnant. I had headaches, went off coffee and alcohol, had morning sickness etc all for the two weeks before my period. I was convince I would be doing a pregnancy test on christmas day and then my period started and I thought I must have had a bug or something but my period has been sloweer starting, more painful and more drawn out. Can I have been pregnant and the coil is causing a miscarriage?

I thought it worked by not letting the egg implant but now I am scared. I hate this feeling. I have miscarried twice before (20weeks and 12weeks) and I know how awful I felt about those.

Does anyone know what is happening to me?

Is it all psychological?

I am sorry you feel like this pet - one way of finding out is if you get a blood test done they may be able to detect low levels of HCG indicating that you were pg or setting your mind at ease that weren't. All the best. xxx

Please see your GP asap, even if it's just to check that everything is OK.

Big hug to you too

I thought I might not see my gp - was wondering if anyone else had felt this before.

The non-hormone coil does work by not letting the egg implant, but it is possible that the egg was fertilised, so yes - technically, you could be pregnant with a fertilised egg, but not an implanted one. I have no idea if pg symptoms occur until the egg is implanted or not though. Of course, no contraception is full proof, so it is possible that the egg did implant and then miscarry. So sorry you are going through this, I hope it ( whatever it is ) is over soon.
