CHicken pox usually starts with spots on the chest or back, and they mutiple quite quickly. Is he ill as well - does he have a temperature?

What do you mean - what's the warning exactly? Steroids can cause a variety of differnent side effects.

How old is he?

I assume that's because steroids can, cause the skin to get thinner, so chicken pox could be nastier.

Chicken pox develops fairly quickly, and the spots ar itchy.

Maybe the spots on his face are due to irritation or a reaction to something?

Have you tried NHS direct?
