bilary colic

I found out 18 months ago with a general scan fir something totally unrelated I have gallstones, but they where small and not causing me any issues so the consultant told me to ignore them. Fast forward and I'm now having my 2nd bilary colic attack. I just can't relieve the dull pain at all, is their anything I can do to ease it ? Anything that helps ?

Presume I need to revisit the doctor next week for next steps ?

Oh you poor thing! Hot water bottle could help? Do you have anything like codeine?

Definitely got to see your GP

Sadly there is no option but to have your gallbladder removed.

Unfortunately most GPs just seem to want to 'stay and play' with gallbladder problems.

The pain will get worse and one day you will have a full blown biliary colic attack. The pain is excruciating (worse than childbirth I am told).

Get on with organising a trip to a consultant through your GP and get the thing removed. It will be 6 months before the op takes place so don't delay as you don't want a blue light special to A&E.

yes, get the fucker out - sooner rather than later!

reducing fat in your diet will make attacks less frequent but sadly Beta is right, I gave birth to a 9.5 pound baby with no pain relief - this was a walk in the park compared to full blown biliary colic.

Also, any sign of jaundice is a medical emergency and needs immediate treatment as it means your bile duct is blocked.

Right doctors it is in next week. I have private medical cover so hopefully can push through quickly.

DH has some codeine, will try that. Feel as though I want to drink milky drinks which is ironic as I drink black coffee ??

I agree with pp. go to the gp ASAP. I had what I thought was indigestion for around 6 months. Uncomfortable but not too bad so I ignored it. I then woke up one night and thought I was having a heart attack. It really was excruciating. Had a scab, discovered gallstones. I was actually offered the op quite quickly - within 6 weeks. Thank god because after that first attack I had loads more terrible ones. Even sips of water would set it off. They gave me oramorph in the end for the pain. No problems since the op.

Avoid milk! That made mine worse!

I'm quite overweight, ironically was about to start a shake diet next week but I've read to avoid these as they can trigger an attack. Will go on a fat free diet instead
