Has anybody else read this with interest?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3258353/Secret-epidemic-s-devastated-family.html

I don't think I have it, but the article is very interesting. This is an intelligent rational man who makes some very good points. Do you think it's possible that things such as ME can be caused by Lyme Disease? And how did all his family catch it? As he says, they haven't lived in the same house for over 20 years…

I would be very interested to hear people's views on this.

I've read another article by the same man before, and I think it's very interesting - certainly worthy of further consideration. I have heard him speak at a conference (not about this) and he struck me as an intelligent, thoughtful guy.

I know two people who currently have Lyme disease.

One, a young man, was misdiagnosed by the NHS with ME for five years and has spent much of the time bed-ridden. He is now getting treatment overseas. He was bitten by a tick as a small child, so the assumption is that it lay dormant in his body for years. Presumably the same could have happened to the family in the article? i.e. the fact that they haven't lived together for years is a red herring. They could all have been bitten on a family walking holiday years ago.

The moral of the story is to wear long trousers when walking; and to be aware of Lyme disease as a possible diagnosis if you have long-term tiredness, lack of concentration, aching joints etc.

Do you think that maybe ME does't exist, it's actually Lyme Disease?

I saw him on This Morning last week. I will see if there's a clip but it made very compelling and interesting viewing.

Does anyone know how you'd go about getting tested by the German clinic?

I've been fobbed off by the Drs for 10+ years with an ME/CFS diagnosis.

A lot of my symptoms fit lyme disease.

Thanks.

Thank you Princess.

I looked for his fb page earlier and only found the one that is automatically generated.

Here's his actual page m.facebook.com/johndcaudwell?tsid=0.2036894508637488&slog=73&seq=407396587&rk=10&fbtype=274

There's a post from yesterday 08.21 and it says Armin labs do reliable tests. Off to do some research on them!

Is he in any way financially connected to this German lab? I'm always a bit suspicious when people start advocating going to a particular laboratory for a test. The majority of labs perform tests using kits from the same manufacturers and unless it's an in house test will be CE marked for diagnostic purposes

I'm not sure baking. He did say about donating some money to the cause so maybe...

hmmm

am prepared to be shot down in flames for this but afaik lymes is only treatable if caught early otherwise i think its pretty much incurable so ...it doesn't really matter if those of us with ME have it or not.the damage has been done.apparently there are over 2000 different viruses which cause ME type symptoms so it really could be anyone's guess what causes it at the moment.

bakingadict he's one of the richest people in the UK - and our biggest individual tax payer - I don't think he needs to make extra on the side by touting unnecessary medical tests

But he's still an entrepreneur and if he has invested money in this German lab then he will want to see a return on his investment. For entrepreneurs it's not always about making the money but about building a successful business. Look at the likes of Peter Jones and Theo Paphitis from Dragons Den worth 100s of millions between them but still they invest in other businesses
