Oh Myermay you poor thing(((hugs)))

I had loop treatment a year before i had ds2 11 years ago.I won't lie to you,it's not nice but after they inject a little local anasthetic you honestly don't feel anything.

It doesn't take very long either. If you really can't face it could you speak to your gp and ask him/her to fight your corner with the consultant and get you the GA?

Hope that helps a wee bit and good luck.

Local.

GA for this procedure is like using an axe to swat a fly.

You CAN ask for sedative drugs and even IV sedation, which should render you very sleepy.

This is actually quite common in the US and less risky/side effects than GA.

It's done in a hospital setting, anyhow.

I had mine w/a local and took a Valium about half an hour before I went in.

The Valium just made me loopy and out of it. You have to have someone w/you if you take it, b/c you can't drive on it.

The worst part for me was the injection, but I hate needles in general.

They suck.

After the injection, though, you feel nothing.

about half an hour before my appointment time.

it reaches full effect in about 45 minutes after you swallow it, so in the US it's prescribed before you come in for treatment.
