Irregular periods and going travelling..?

I've never been on birth control before but I get very irregular periods and when they do come they tend to be quite heavy. In a months time I'm going travelling for my gap year so I thought I would go on the pill to skip my period, however I think my BMI is too high for the combined pill and you can't skip periods on the mini pill, so what are my options?
Also, I'm TERRIFIED of the doctors so does anyone know what the appointment to go I the pill is actually like?
Thank you!

hmmm....

you've really left this too late. But:

cerazette/cerelle produces no bleeding at all in many women. And lots of bleeding in others. You won't know until you try.

the appointment consists of family history check, blood pressure check, medical history check. Tell the truth. No more than that.

has your doctor terror stopped you getting your holiday jabs? And tabs if you need them? Hope not.

I took noresthisterone for a few years to regulate my periods. It didn't make them any less heavy, but it meant I had control over when my period started. I'm not sure youre usually meant to take it long term, but my GP prescribed it for 3 years for me. It was very useful if I wanted ti avoid my period happening on cetain days.

I nw take Cerelle, and dont have any periods , but it took about 3 months of irregular bleeding for my periods to stop.

Do go and see your GP and talk through what is the best oprion for you.
