Is it normal for some people to get them this bad.

I cant walk properly and it feels like the start of labour.

I want someone to rub my back and i'm creasing over in pain.

Is it like this every month for some people?

Hope you feel better soon. If it's over and above anything you've ever had, might be an idea to get checked out - sounds unusual for you.

And yes, for me, giving birth was a doddle compared to my periods I have endometriosis though, which is why.

Sometimes they're like that. Not every month though. Been worse since having kids. Paracetemal, hot water bottle and chocolate. That's my prescription to you! Hope you feel better soon.

Oh god, how awful. I would phone NHS direct. Hope you're ok, FF

I'm unable to get to the bus stop as i cant walk for longer than a few steps.

I want to get home and sit in the bath.

God help anyoone who has them like this, i feel for you. How do you act normally!

I had paracetemol an hour ago but they've not touched it.

Perhaps i'm having all my periods in one.

Do you know the day before you go into proper labour and your back is in agony? Are they like that?

I'll phone NHS direct if it keeps me up tonight, then i will know it is something untoward.

i'm probably just being a princess as i've been luck so far.

I've just found some ibroprofen so will give that a go.

Leaning over the back of the settee helps and breathing it away.

Could be something else, FF - maybe an ovarian cyst bursting or an ectopic? I don't mean to worry you, and it could just be a bad period, but if you don't usually get this - well, any out-of-the-ordinary pain is always worth checking out, IMO.

Mine are worse now since I had the kids and now have a coil - DH scheduled for the snip in January - I can't wait

Report
fairyfly · 02/11/2006 13:17

I'll see if it lasts before worrying.

I'm reminding myself of people that go to casualty when they just need a big shit.

Thankyou for the advice. I dont often get periods so i probably should go to the doctors for a blood test when i'm up to it.

yes .. it was for me which is why I went on the pill 2 months ago .. despite my advanced years

paracetomal or ibuprofen
hot water bottle
lie down
and generally groan

hope you feel better soon

PutAnotherTwigOnTheBonfire · 02/11/2006 13:22

you may have a blood clot

pain in your back? that could be a kidney infection?

maybe if it is that unusual for you, you should call the doctor to check

mine would last for a day or two .. but definitely come in waves like contractions (just last for 20 mins or so)

fairyfly · 02/11/2006 13:24

Honestly, i'll ring the doctor if it stays like this, i am bleeding big lumpy mucusy crap (tmi) so i doubt its kidneys.

I'll just keep an eye on it, it's stopped now for a bit so i'm going to get home, Thanks,

Strangely enough it suddenly stopped just as i was about to start screaming and wanting gas and air.
Hopefully thats the end of it and it wont start again after the ibruprofen wears off. Honestly i feel for any of you who go through that every month, how the hell do you carry on with your jobs.

Clotting Twig? Is that just what happens in a period once in a blue moon and what causes it?

I'm sorry yours are like that lth, you have my greatest sympathy.
Now it's stopped i feel like a bit of a nutter, my boyfriend rang up and i was crying down the phone telling him my womb was falling out.

mine are like that every month

go to the doc if it happens more often and they can prescribe some painkillers

otherwise, get Buscopan over the counter - it says (on the packet) it is for IBS but it is a generally anti-spasmodic and what it does is stop those dreadful cramps that feel like labour cramps

I keep a packet with me all the time. They take around 30mins - 1 hour to start working but once they kick in, you don't feel the cramps at all.
