Alternative to pill, any advice?

I am hopeless at remembering to take my pill. The doctor has suggested either an injection or an implant. Anyone had good/bad experiences they can share before I decide?

injection is really good - worth a try at least. hassle free ('cept it goes in your bum!), periods might disappear and it sometimes takes a year to get fertile again but day to day much better not to worry bout contracption. Likewise the coil i think but have never had that.

I had the injection for about 3year and when i came of it my periods were up the wall we tryed for 3 years after that to have a child first time i got pergnant it was an EP i went on to have a daughter and then a furter 2 EP. Im NOT says the injection had anything to do with that but lets just say i never had any probs before any got pregnat with my first child no probs.

I've just been given patches - only have to remember to change once a week, also easy to stop if experience side effects - have had problems with pill before. Sorry no more info but only just got then - guess they're worth asking about. hth

I am on depo injections. I was quite unwell when I started these injections and was very underweight.

I am unsure if it because of the jag but I am now the owner of a fat stomach and ass

I would like to come off the jag now but when I tried last time it was terrible, headaches and felt like I was going to have the mother of all periods (a years worth) so I ended up getting another jag as couldnt handle the illness coming off.

My friend has had 2 jags now (every 8 weeks) and she is still bleeding lightly. Mine stopped as soon as i got 1st jag so it does effect everyone differently.

Have had the Implanon implant since August as my GP said it was a more effective contraceptive (high 90s %) than having my tubes tied (low 90s %) (have 4yr old DS and 14 wk old DD and think that's it for now!)

It is progesterone only, like the mini-pill, and your fertility comes back within a few months once it is removed. Otherwise it lasts 3 years.

Having it fitted was not painful, just mildly discomforting and once its in you don't feel a thing. Have not had any probs so far.

I had the implant and it gave me incredibly severe PMT. I would suggest you have the implant rather than the injection though, as at least you can get the implant taken out. The injection can stay in your system for up to 6 months. So if you have a bad reaction...
Have you ever taken projesteron only pills? As that is what the implant and injection are, and if you have taken a pill that is projesterone only before, and not had any problems, thats probably a good sign.

p.s. only had the implant for 4 months. been clear for over two weeks now and still no period (I was told it clears your system immediatly)
