Argh! Plaster/dressing NOT gentle

Recovering from minor surgery (almost 3 months ago). I've been using allevyn gentle which were fab. However now it's very very nearly healed nurse switched me over to "softpore" dressing. Today I pulled softpore off and it sagged the healthy skin! Now it's all weepy and bleeding. HmmConfused

I just bought some mepore online which does seem more gentle than the stupid softpore. However now I have to "cut down" the sticky bit so it doesn't stick to the damaged skin! Argh!

Softpore and Mepore are pretty sticky - and an almost healed wound probably doesn't need Allevyn Gentle (which although nice are very expensive).

You could try some barrier films such as Sobaderm or Cavilon to protect the skin under the adhesive.

Poor you, hope you are all healed soon Flowers

Thanks Sidge. Agreed that's why I've moved on from allevyn. I'd been buying it myself as it was such a faff getting it on prescription. Had Cavilon on under allevyn to protect around wound (it was exuding so had to keep skin dry), but used all that up!

Just realised I meant "snagged" not "sagged"!

LOL I thought sagged was some regional descriptor I hadn't heard of Grin

Can you leave your wound bare at all? If not, depending where it is, maybe try a film dressing such as Tegaderm. They tend to be less traumatic.

I think it has now (finally) made good apart from today's damage so I'm going to go plaster less tonight and see how I get on.
