pain and swelling after tooth extraction...

Hoping for advice...I had a back bottom molar extracted 5 days ago and I am still swollen at back of gums and still needing painkillers. It was a fairly difficult extraction so I was expecting pain and swelling. Have definitely seen progress every day, so I know I am heading in the right direction and not worried re infection or anything, just surprised at the time it is taking to go down and for the pain to go. Has anyone else had a good few days like this post extraction?

I had the same last Thursday. Still in pain. Been rubbing Anbesol on the gum which helps a bit along with paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I didn't expect to be in pain after a few days but have put that down to the difficulty to get the bugger out!

Sorry to hear you are still in pain too Lozislovely, but that is reassuring!! I had never had a tooth out before so didnt know what to expect. I think also there is something uniquely depressing and dragging down-ish about tooth/mouth pain. It has been a horrible experience. Take care of yourself and thanks for answering xx
