On average, how long after having a caesarean does it take for your periods to return?

After my second emergency C section (DD born at 29 weeks) I couldn't BF, so they returned after only a few months, certainly before our daughter's full term due date. They are different, though - take about 3 days to get started properly then very heavy for 2 days then back to almost nothing for another couple of days. Hope this isn't too much information.

I don't think it makes any difference if you have a caesarean or not. Both times mine returned a month or two after I stopped breastfeeding. But some people's come back while they're still breastfeeding.

Your period is governed by your hormones, so whether you have a vaginal delivery or c-section it comes back when your hormones decide. I had a section on DS, breast fed for 6mths and got period as soon as I stopped breast feeding. I had a vaginal delivery with DD1 and periods returned straight after giving up breast feeding. Still breast feeding DD2 (13mths) but got period when she was 7mths. Hope this helps.
