DS has got the appointment through for his EEG. They haven't told me much about it. They have provided a leaflet that just says he will be expected to lie still on a couch for 45-90 mins, this worries me for a start he's 2 and not capable of sitting still for 5 mins let alone an hour and a half!

It also says he will have electrodes attached to his head.

That's all anyone had one done on there toddler can you tell me what to expect please.

My dd was a lively 14 month old when she had an EEG. I held her in my arms when they did it, holding her so that she was absolutely still. It took about 20 minutes. Fortunately she was so in awe of everything that she remained relatively still but every now and again I really had to clutch her hard to stop her moving. The people who work there should be helpful and understanding. They attached electrodes to her head and there were flashing lights. Waiting in the waiting room was more stressful. I hope it goes well!

An EEG is like brain scan to see if they can find the cause of DS's siezures.

Thanks Belgo, i just hope they don;t get angry with ds he's into everything!

Not sure what you mean by what sort! sorry probably being thick

He had one Dec last year they couldn't explain why they said they sisn't think it was ferible as he wasn;t in the slightest bit ill. Then he had one again 2 weeks ago. Again no sign of illness/temp or anything.

He has full body fits out of the blue then gets very sleepy for ages. So far they are unexplained so thats why were having tests.

My little boy had an EEG at 10 months old. They attached electrodes to his scalp with a gel and i held him in my arms. They gave him some toys to distract him and he didnt have to stay that still..all the time anyway. These people are used to dealing with babies and toddlers so should be understanding...try not to worry too much. Hope all goes well for you!
