Has anyone had experience of this
the other day at work I had a strange experience for approx 6 mins
when I was reading I could not see all the words and when I was writing I could only see part of the sentence
I also had a strange vision which I can only describe as a haze to the right eye similar to a heat haze in the summer and for a short time black and white lines similar to a kaleidoscope, and I could only see part the left side of my friends face
My doctor says it could have been the onset of a migraine but as I have no previous history of them to be on the safe side I have not to drive till I have been for a ECG and brain scan booked for Monday morning
Just wondering if any one has had these symptoms
Anne

They can present in very similar ways and the only real way to say for sure is with investigations (MRI & ECG as you are having) and a specialist opinion from a neurologist or stroke physician.

Try not to panic, you did the right thing in visiting your Dr and it sounds like things are in hand. There's nothing more you can do and stress will not help either condition.

I get migraine with aura (that funny tunnel vision and kaleidoscope effect) and it is awful, I also get slurred speech, trouble finding the right words & areas of numbness/tingling in my face, and limbs. It is very similar to TIA or stroke symptom and can be scary (though I've had it for years so am used to it now, I know what it is in my case).

It sounds very much how I get migraines. Sort of double vision then a sort of hazey blind spot in one eye and then jaggy black and white lines then I then get a sore head on one side and feel really peculiar and odd. Once I didn't even get the sore head. My DH gets the same - his starts with not being able to read and progresses the same as yours. He gets them a lot has had a few that had no pain after the vision disturbances.
I got my first migraine like this when I was about 24.

I had about five or so (visual) aura only migraines when pregnant with my fourth child. They took about fifteen minutes coming on and then ten clearing away again and were very much like the experience you describe.

I've had the same thing about 8 years ago. I thought it was a tia and I had an mri and ecg with neuro opinion. It was just migraine. I'm sure you will be fine but it's bloody terrifying at the time. I've only had about 3 in all that time since. I had to go onto low grade aspirin for three months.

I also had compete numbness in my fingers in one hand for a minute or so followed by v flaking lights, slurred speech and loss of co ordination. I had a "hangover" for a few days after the second one. I felt like I had to go and lie down in a darkened room.

Well been to the hospital and have had a brain scan ,heart trace ,and ultra sound and everything is normal as is my cholesterol and blood pressure
The Dr says it was probably a migraine without the pain
so I am well relieved she also said the symptoms between a TIA and migraine are very similar

That's good news OP. You must be relieved.
