Tiny blind spot in one eye.

OK. This morning I woke up as usual and when I blinked I had a star shaped bright shape. I've now narrowed that to a small blind spot in my right eye. My grandparents on my dad's side both had glaucoma, as did he. On my mum's side I'm not sure, I didn't really know her, which is his fault (my dad). I have a blind spot in my vision, right in the centre of my right eye.

Wow, now it's circular and blue and green. This is weird.

I think you need to get yourself seen by an optician ASAP. That sounds odd!

Yup, optician ASAP. Could it be a detached retina. I'm no expert, but I do know that you need to seek help immediately when it comes to eyes.

definitely get this looked at tomorrow, and sooner if you are noticing an increased amount of floaters or flashing lights or twinkling

Phone first thing...preferably a largeish opticians, they are usually better at taking in walk-ins.

Go and see someone ASAP. Have you had any other issues? Eye pain/headaches etc?

It can also be a pre-stroke, called a TIA - google it and see if any other feelings/symptoms fit... eyesight is really important to us, and for our body to "turn it off" is usually serious - or at least worth getting checked. Knees often get creaky and stiff, eyes not so much....

I have no other symptoms/health issues, just a dot when I shut my eyes and a tiny blind spot in the right. The dot only appears if both eyes are shut. I'm not going to go on Dr Googles, it'll bloody terrify me! :o

Sounds like the aura for a migraine, especially the colours/lights thing, although it seems to have gone on for quite a long time? Did you go to the doctor, OP?
Hope all's well.

Just back from having my eyes checked. I have a burst blood vessel, according to the optician. She's referring me to a specialist just to make sure she's right. When she did the actual reading test with the different lenses she popped in the last set and I could see to read the smallest print. Shock Hopefully this will go away on its own over the next week or two. I'm just relieved its nothing serious.

Oh that's good. Glad to see it was nothing too scary!
