Came up very quickly, slightly sore bust one day then by the night red and swollen and I was felling run down, saw gp the following morning. Antibotics kicked in pretty fast with red swelling now gone and felt more myself with in three days ,and had no discomfort today. Yes the lump has gone down but it still quite big deep in the breast tissuse. Due to see gp again on thursday just wanting so guidence before then.

Its probably something simple like mastitis or blocked ducts but in your position if it hadnt fully cleared after 2 weeks of anti Bs then I would push for a referral to a breast clinic to rule out IBC especially if you havent been Breast feeding for 12 years (if i read that bit right).

Its always better to be cautious even though its probably nothing to worry about and the fact the redness went down with the anti Bs is a really good sign its infection rather than anything sinister.

Have you got any dimpling, thickening of the skin or changes in your nipples?

I just read my post back and hope i havent come across as tactless mentioning you ruling out BC at a specialist clinic if it hadnt even crossed your mind Blush

I come from a family with a big medical history so we take no chances and it clouds every opinion on lumps/bumps and rashes on breasts. x

That fine the gp did ask questions about family history and asked it I had noticed any change in the breast before the onset of the pain. No dimpling, thickening of the skin or changes in nipples.

Lexcat, a few days shouldn't make much difference. The lump does need checking out properly for your own peace of mind.
I do find that antibiotics take some time to work, so maybe you will still see some effects in the next few days.
