Hi,

I am a bit of a hypochondriac but had recently been keeping a lid on it. At the moment am under severe stress - my nan my only extended family member is dying (mum and dad both dead) and there are other stresses in my life too.
A few weeks ago I was walking down the stairs and noticed that my little toe felt funny - not numb just as if it was being constricted. Had been wearing a series of unsuitable footwear (high heels, flimsy flipflops) and just put it down to that for a while then decided to look up ms on the net (not sure why) . Didn't really have any of the symptoms but noticed that pins and needles was one of them. Since then have developed tingling in hands feet and around mouth. The pain is my toe is gone though.
Have made an appointment for Monday to see the doctor but am imagining the worst have started feeling shaky and weak ....
Sorry this is so long trying to keep it together am off to visit my nan in hospital now.

Sounds like you are very stressed at the moment. It would be hard enough for a doctor to diagnose your symptoms - I certainly wouldn't want to have a go!!
More than likely you haven't got MS, you are probably just really tired and run down & you could have a tingling sensation for all sorts of reasons: mineral or vitamin deficiency, dehydration etc. Best to let the doctor take a full history & go from there. No point worrying yourself silly in the meantime, nothing is going to change dramatically in the 5 days.

Zigandzoq
First rule of thumb is dont panic ,and have a trip to the docs, it can be so many other things. With ms, they dont do much unless you have two attacks, then they look for symptomatic differences and only then the hospital tests you have probably read about. Like I say dont worry ,it gets you nowhere. Ive had two attacks in 16 years and mri and lp are possitive but the impact on my life is negliable . Its called benign- not the others. If you are worried ,remember that stress can give all kinds of weird sensations ,so go easy on yourself. by the way msrc.co.uk is a really friendly helpful site if you need more info .all the best

imo self diagnosing off the internet is a really bad idea. If you look hard enough you could probably have the simptoms of a number of medical conditions, but actually it could just be down to stress. see what gp says, but try not to worry, and don't go looking up medical conditions again.

I've suffered from really bad health anxiety and stress recently and have had the pins and needles thing like you on and off for months. It is a very common symptom among us hypochondriacs so try not to worry too much. you're right to see your GP but i think you'll be fine. Wannabe is right don't google your symptoms it really won't help if your like me you'll just develop any new symptoms you read about!

zigandzog - ms is hard to diagnose and if these are the only symptoms you have it is unlikely to be ms and very unlikely to be diagnosed as ms. As moyasmum says they don;t really even start investigating unless you have 2 attacks. I would really recommend that you try not to worry - there's nothing to be gained. pins and needles can be caused by all sorts of things. forgive me for a small hi-jack - moyasmum - I didn;t know there was anyone on here with ms - mine is pretty benign too but am not coping with the heat at all. have been feeling hideous - how about you?

wwtswah- I'm ok, sweating like everyone else and really hoping for it to be over soon. I stay indoors, near a fan, keep windows and some curtains drawn to keep the heat out and take showers to lower my core temp .I've seen those neck scarves that you wet and wear(around your neck obv)which also can help.oh yeah sucking ice cubes in my fruity cocktails!

zigzog - i agrtee with the others it sounds like extreme stress so seeing your gp isnt going to harm to be honest. If Im really stressed I sometimes feel like my scalp is crawling and like a swimming hat is popping off my head.

MS is very hard to diagnose and shouldbnt be done on google./
