Itchy and sore. Owwwwwwwww :(
Any other remedies? Canesten AF has always worked in the past.

DH uses normal Canesten, not sure if it's stronger? Has also used Lamisil Once when it was really bad and that worked well.

The clotrimazole is the same strength afaik, but the AF has some other ingredient in it.

I have been using it for about five days and it's getting worse Sad. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact I now have to wear custom orthotics. I have never ever had it this bad. Usually get a bit of itchiness and splitting between my toes which normal canesten clears up no probs. This, I have huge weals between my toes and the skin around my toes and on the top of my feet is red and inflamed.

go and see your gp, they'll prescribe something stronger

Try miconazole (daktarin), it may be canesten resistant.

...available from the chemist. Speak to your pharmacist for advice. No need for GP unless pharmacist is stumped.

I read somewhere that Vicks vaporub is brilliant for athlete's foot...

Use surgical spirit. I had been battling with Athlete's Foot for years, using one powder or cream after another. I was looking on the website of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists for something else and found this advice for Athlete's Foot. I probably applied twice a day for a couple of days and it was sorted. Worth looking there for other advice on shoe rotation, etc.

Oh, sorry I haven't responded to say thanks Blush For some reason the thread wasn't showing on Threads I'm On Hmm

It's clearing up nicely now; still using the Canesten AF, but in a deperate bid to make it better, I put some sudocreme on too...pretty much instant relief Shock. Now it was probably just the Canesten AF starting to work, but I am sold on the combination of Canesten AF and Sudocreme!

I also bought some foot powder stuff so have blitzed all my shoes/insoles with that and have left the insoles out in the sun, and they all smell a lot better, as do my feet!!!

Thanks for the advice and the links...is there anything that Neem oil isn't suitable for? It seems to be one of those multifunctional items!!

I'll look at the podiatry website; I have recently been diagnosed with a condition that has led to me needing the orthotics in the first place; more information on how to keep my (getting slightly ancient) feet can only be a good thing!!

My GP had me try every single lotion and potion for athletes foot when I was a teenager.

Then, another doc told me to wear sandals all summer and paddle in the sea every day of the school holidays. This was easy as we were in a seaside town.

And blow me, it worked!

Maybe not so practical if you don't live near the sea!!
