MY NEICE WAS BORN AND WAS HEALTHY, A MONTH LATER PUT IN THE HOSPITAL, BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH WITH STREP B. SHE IS SUPPOSEDLY DOING WELL. SHE HAS TO BE IN 7 MORE DAYS. THE DOCTORS HAS NOT MENTIONED OF HER HAVING ANY DIFFICULTIES IN THE FUTURE OR SAID THEIR COULD BE THINGS LIKE LOSS OF VISION, HEARING ETC. IS THIS SOMETHING THEY MIGHT TALK ABOUT AT A LATER TIME? AND THEY ARE JUST TYRING TO GET HER BETTER, AND THEN AT A LATER TIME GOING TO TELL THE PARENTS THAT THEIR MAY BE OTHER THINGS GOING ON. I AM JUST CONFUSED AND I DON'T WANT TO GIVE THE PARENTS IDEAS IF THEY HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. AFTER TAKING THE FULL COURSE OF ANTIBIOTICS COULD SHE STILL GET THIS AGAIN. I KNOW THE MOM DID GET ANTIBITICS DURING PREGNANCY AND THOUGHT EVERYTHING WAS O.K. UNTIL THE BABY WAS RUNNING A LOW FEVER AND TOOK HER TO THE HOSPITAL. WHAT SHOULD THEY BE EXPECTING? SHOULD I GIVE THEM INFORMATION? OR SHOULD I JUST LET THEM WAIT AND LET THE DOCTORS GIVE THEM INFORMATION. I DON'T TRUST DOCTORS, BUT WANT TO RESPECT THE PARENTS.

as far as I am aware it can cause a whole host of problems. But then it is most probably all depending on the severity of the infection. I imagine the Dr knows best

Auntiebama - My baby was in hospital on antibiotics after he was born because I had strep B. I don't know, but I would have thought that if the illness had caused serous problems that they would have been obvious by now. I think that hospitals test the hearing of babies who have been on high doses of anti-biotics, as that can occasionally cause a problem.

I am pleased your neice is doing well.

Best thing would be to contact Group B Strep Support, they have a website, and they were great support and very helpful.Hope the baby is doing well.
