My dd is teething what feeld like months, she has two top and bottom teeth so im not sure which ones now are trying to make their entry into the world. this time she is in so much pain. it feels like i have had to give her calpol every nigt for the last 3/4 days - just one a dose a night. if i try to just soothe her without calpol then she wakes screaming in the night and i end up giving it to her then anyway. last night she woke in such pain she was tightening her body and pinching me skin. poor little thing, wish i could explain whats happening to her. I just wanted to know what teeth come after the top and bottom front teeth and do they cause more pain and also is it bad to give calpol as much as i have? i know on the instructions it says 4 doses in 24 hours. i am giving her one dose a night.

Oh, poor you! Teeth are dreadful, they ahve a lot to answer for! After the top and bottom two come the ones either side: these shouldn't be as bad as the first lot, but you never know. My ds2 has just suffered really badly with the bottom one. I wouldn't worry about the Calpol - you're way under the dosage and it sounds like she needs it. Have you tried any topical relief like Calpol teething gel or Bonjela?

Mammyshirl I had a hard time when my eldest was teething too and felt like I gave him Calpol every night for months. One dose a day is fine. I asked my GP in the end because I was worried and she said it was fine, so long as you never exceed the recommended daily dose, she said to watch out for ds1's wee turning dark as this can be a sign they are having too much Calpol.

Have you tried homeopathic remedies? There are little sachets of powder you can get in Boots - Teetha, which a lot of people recommend.

I also swear by Anbesol - a liquid anaesthetic which you put straight on the gum (I think it's better than the gel ones like Bonjela as it doesn't slide off so easily)

She will probably get the bottom two next to the ones she's got, then the corresponding top two. It may be though that her canines (the pointy ones) are coming at the same time and I think they are particularly bothersome.

Teething is horrid, but it does pass (eventually!) My ds2 is getting his two year molars now...

Aston & Parsons Teething Powders might help. Worth a try anyway.

I feel like that as well,DS seems to be always teething. But as long as you don't give more than is stated on the box you'll be fine. I also give him Anbesol which seems to help.

Definately give the astons & Parsons teething powders a try they were the only thing that soothed my ds when he was teething.

Nelson's Teetha really helped my dd, you can buy it in Boots.
