Ive not been on the pill in months i started taking it after ds was born but kept forgetting so decided to use condoms until I decided on another birthcontrol method. Anyway ive been put off by the coil and im hating condoms so i eventually got my ass to the doctors yesterday for the pill again. Ds was playing up so i kind of nievely said i knew how to take it. Reading the instructions it said to take on the first day of my period well yesterday was my 4th day of my period and i took it any how cus i cant wait till my next period. Ive now finished my period and so wanting to know how long till it becomes affective do i have to wait 7days. Im really dying have sex again with hubby without the rubber thingys. Would i be fertile now at this time im not sure whether to go ahead any way as another baby wouldnt be the end of the world although a few mths later would be better. I think im just really horny to be honest sorry bout the rant....Does anyone else think condoms take away alot of the pleasure?

The pill stops you ovulating from the poin that you take it. It takes time to alter your hormone levels to make your womb inhospitalbe. you in theory could have ovulated before youstarted taking the pill. so would use alternative contraception for at least 7 days from the first pill.

If in doubt read the instructions on yourpacket. there will be a bit on pill started mid cycle I'm sure. Or phone your local family planning nurse.

I was told before that its effective straight away but that was when taking it on the first day of my period.

yes, is effective for preventing ovulation straight away, but you may have already ovulated, in which case you need to use additional protection

in short, wear the rubbers unless you want a baby
