Sore spots on fingers - what are they?!

I have several sore patches on my fingers. They can be little spots but I've also got one that's about 5mm in diameter.

They hurt if I press on them and can also be a bit numb. It's all under the skin, there's no broken skin. However the skin over the patch feels a bit thickened. The patch is purple but also kind of transparent, if that makes sense?

I had them last winter so I thought they might be related to the cold weather. They go away after about a week.

Any ideas what they might be? They don't bother me enough to go to the doctor, I was just curious what might be causing them!

Possibly poor circulation.

I get something like this and have the sort of lesions you mention. Mine are on my thumb and first two fingers near the tips. Eventually the skin cracks.

I do some excercise with my arms and it improves the circulation and I have had a bit of physiotherapy on my shoulder.

I was told it was because I do a lot of work on computers and tension in the shoudler stops the blood flowing back form the fingers properly and the lack of oxygen makes the skin die and the fingers swell a bit. It is worse in winter.

Sounds like it might be poor circulation. All the current spots are on my right hand which is my mouse hand!
