Hi,

DH took DS#1 and DD to the dentist yesterday. DS#1 had to have a filling ......he is a nightmare about cleaning his teerh and I dread taking him to the dentist. But what really worried me is that DD (always cleans them beautifuly without being nagged and watched over all the time and had never had anything wrong with them) has been told that she has to stop grinding her teeth as some of the baby teeth have been ground right down Shock!! I'm a bit surprised as I can't help thinking that if this was the case she'd have had some pain, also I've NEVER seen or heard her doing this, even at night. However, my question is this....has anyone had this problem and what did you do about it? I'm concerned that now she's getting her adult teeth in she'll be giving herself major problems...and she was the one I never had to worry about before Sad

Any idea?

TIA

The dentist told her to stop? How does he/she imagine she's going to do that?

See \link{http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/features/teethgrinding_003839.htm\this piece} - many children do it. My DD1 ground her baby teeth down to almost nothing but her adult teeth are fine (she is 24 tomorrow by the way so she's had them for a while!)

If yours does go on grinding when she gets adult teeth she can have an appliance to wear at night.

Good question Jan!!! Grin. Apparently she didn't volunteer that vital piece of advice ... although I was a bit fed up at DH for not questioning her. It's reassuring that your daughter is OK.I must admit it did worry...I had visions of her being toothless at 18!!

That link was most interesting ...that she might be exercising her jaw to correct misalignment. She does have a very slight overbite. Nice if the dentist had explained that to us....

Thankyou.

Kate
