Are viruses contageous? DD is poorly but it is only a virus, she aches, has a sore throat and her legs ache. DS wont go near her as he says she is infectious SO ......... can you catch a virus?

of course, how do you think you get in the first place?

yes and yes.

you can catch a virus if you've never been infected with that particular virus before.

some are airborne - you get them b/c they live in particles of air exhaled by an infected person and you breathe them in.

some live on things - your hands, for example, that's why washing them is so important, particuarly after handling food or using hte loo.

some cannot live outside the body, such as some sexually transmitted diseases or those which are otherwise transmitted via bodily fluids.

Yes. Not sure what you mean by 'only a virus'. I think because there aren't medicines to treat viruses, drs don't give medicine to viral conditions. I asked my GP about my ds's cough which he's had for nearly 2 weeks and the GP said that as it ws viral, we just had to wait, but if temp spkied or anything go back etc.
