went back to the gp today because of breast/nipple pain following excema type rash. She examined me and is referring me to the hospital breast clinic for probable mammogram.

I was cool calm and collected as ds was with me but forgot to ask the likely wait. Can't seem to stop thinkning about it now .Anyone had any experience and can shed any light on how long the wait will be?

I got referred last year and was told they're supposed to see you within 2 weeks, in my area anyway. It wasn't quite in the two weeks because the letter got lost but they sorted it out as soon as I queried it so it wasn't much longer than that.

Brighton area.

Have you had a mammogram before? I was dreading it as I'd heard it was quite painful (especially if one is quite large, sorry to boast!)but it wasn't nearly as bad as I'd expected. It's an uncomfortable squeezing sensation that's not exactly pleasant but it really only lasts for a second. In fact I'm going for another one in a couple of weeks. Can't say I'm looking forward to it but I'm not scared - and I'm a terrible coward!

Thanks pixel,no I haven't had a mammogram before.I'm also quite large in that dept. so thanks for the reassurance. My mum's had breast cancer but it was caught early and after a lumpectomy was fine,
