Cerazette is getting me down

I started taking Yasmin (combined pill) a couple of years ago due to nightmare periods but came off it in November as it was giving me an upset stomach. Found that my periods came back regular as clockwork within two months but with all same symptoms as before but worse (migraine, then headache, insomnia, indigestion, diarrhoea, anxiety...). Decided with GP to try Cerazette to 'level things out' but quite frankly it's been a disaster. Started taking it about 5 weeks ago. Mild spotting after one week. Spotting/period for past two and a half weeks with mild period symptoms on and off all the time. Now feeling completely on edge and anxious. With lots of decisions to be made in my personal life (potentially moving abroad due to DH changing job) I feel like my mind is out of control along with the physical stuff.

Sorry to whinge on but has anyone else had a bad experience with Cerazette? I am considering going back to Yasmin where at least I felt I had some control and wasn't totally mental!! I realise everyone's different but any advice/suggestions would be appreciated.

i tried cerazette for a few months after having dd2. the first 2 months were awful and i was sooo tempted to stop taking them - i felt grumpy, sex drive was zero and i had almost constant bleeding, sometimes light sometimes heavier. i decided to keep going though as most of the stuff i read said that side effects tend to calm down after 3 months, which they did to a certain extent... but then i didn't bother going back to renew the prescription as i was so fed up with hormones buggering me about. we've just been using condoms since... but there again i've always been very sensitive to hormonal changes - maybe if you give it til the magic 3 months you might find it agrees with you better.

I was on cerazette. Hated it. Changed to microgynon and felt worse. Now I'm on Yasmin and my moods are much better!

I had a horrible heavy 15 day period with cerazette the first month I was on it and was so tempted to stop taking it. However I've now been on it for a further two months with no bleeding or spotting and no problems at all.

Glad to know it's not my imagination!

I don't think I can endure the 3 months Moomin, I might be totally round the bend by then!

Going to the doctor this afternoon so will see what they suggest.

Was on microgynon, terrible headaches / migraine so changed to Cerazette - went from bad to worse! Terrible headaches continued combined with terrible feeling of sickness and lack of periods! So bad I though I must be pregnant - I wasn't. As with Moomin stopped using this after about 3 months and reverted to condoms. I feel fine now - no chemicals being pumped into me on a daily basis!

ICEy what did your doctor say? I was on Cerazette for 3 months after the doc recommended I try it as I am over 35 (don't smoke though). I didn't have any severe problems but I did gain weight almost straight away, which took me ages to shift, and I had no periods at all. I stopped well over a month ago now and still no sign of a period! Did a pg test just in case which was negative. I won't be going back on it as I prefer more control!

I just stopped taking it. It killed my sex drive, caused me to break out in painful cystic acne and I had constant breakthrough bleeding (NOT spotting, but bleeds). Also made my hair a grease pit.

What's the point in using a contraception that has side effects that turn you off sex?

I'm currently taking it & don't like it.I've had terrible spot outbreaks,my hair was falling out & I have no sex drive at all.I'm seriously considering stopping taking it.
I used to take Marvelon, but was prescribed Cerazette as I was bf dd2 at the time.I liked Marvelon & don't know why I can't still take it.Im not bfeeding anymore.

my hair also fell out majorly w/cezarette, mirage, and was greasy. and the spots! if only they were just spots and not boil-like acne cysts that hurt so badly i couldn't carry a handbag over my shoulder.

combined w/all that bleeding and no sex drive and i just threw them away.

can't do progesten at all. it just doesn't suit me.

feel much better since!
