Endometriosis & pain relief

I think there are some fellow sufferers on the board somewhere?

I am feeling a bit miserable about my endo whcih seems to be returning since DS was born 2 years ago.

I was wondering what others do regarding pain relief. I am just using nurofen & paracetamol combined every 4 hours atm, this is working ok (not taking pain away completely but masking it enough to e.g. sit in front of PC).

I would say the pain was bad this month but not the worst I've had by any means.

Anyway this combination sometimes just about knocks me out esp. if I'm already tired, but it's better than teh pain.

I am worried about taking anything stronger that I will not be able to function properly.

Anyone use any alternative treatments or specific painkillers / combos they find effective?

TIA

Also use mefenamic acid, usually does the trick when combined with nurofen. Or I use co-codamol when things are really bad!

mefenamic acid (ponstan) is good and also traxenamic acid (cyklokapron) reduces blood flow which can improve enometriosis. (sitting next to dh GP). Itake ponstan and its good - cant take it with ibuprofen as is a similar drug. HTH.

I tried Ponstan once but had horrible side effects.

That's the kind of thing I am worried about, I know I'm OK with otc stuff, but worried about taking anything else.

anchovies - don't worry, it shouldn't do any harm but also might not do much good - and could give you bad indigestion, that's all.

I've tried all the stuff that the hospital gave me such s Ponstan and tranexamic acid etc and none of them agreed with me. I tend to stick to Cuprofen (ibuprofen) tablets which are taken as one tablet three times a day as they are very strong but I have been known to take two if I've had a bad attack of the pain in the middle of the night. Unfortunately I can't take paracetamol or aspirin as it upsets my stomach. I've also tried the Mirena coil (there's a thread going about it) but this caused some horrible side effects so I had mine removed on 14 Feb while I was in hospital having some of the adhesions removed. I haven't had a period since 7th January so I cannot really comment on the state of my pain at the moment, hopefully it should have improved with the removal of some of the adhesions.
