I probably posted about this before, but I'm getting very fed up of it.

I have SD on my face, around my nose and the corners of my mouth. The GP has given me a fungal cream, which does help the spots, but my skin is allergic to it and the surrounding area gets very sore and looks like its been burnt, so I can't really use it. I also have some hydrocortisone cream which again helps a little bit, but I don't like over using it.

Does anyone have any suggestions of anything that might help? I have a feeling stress may be a triggering factor - I've been very stressed recently. I wondered if there was any kind of natural remedy, something I could get from a health shop, that might be kinder on my skin. At present I am getting new lesions every day.

Fed up of looking like I've been attacked with a cheese grater. Sad

TIA

Can't help, sorry, but I hope someone can, as I have it around the sides of my nose too. Don't like it one bit.

Just bumping in case any of the daytime people can help.

ds2 had it on his scalp and was given Cocois ointment to apply at night. Horrid stinky stuff though - but it worked.

thank you fortyplus, is that something you have to get on prescription?

Hi
Dh and dd have this
Best thing is nisorol shampoo
Wash hair with it and rub lather on nose side creases and behind ears or wherever you have it. It was prescribed for both of them but you can buy from boots. Ask pharmacist for directions. Mine use twice weekly.
Hope this helps

Hi Kurri.
Remember you posting before about this, but want to say again do give Nizoral a go.
Cured my SD that I had in my early 20's.

Hi I have it too and use Nizoral. I have it all over my scalp and on the top of my back/neck and on my chest (weirdly not on my face).

I have been using nizoral for about 3 months (you don't use it continuously but on and off) and it's made a massive difference.

I also use a shampoo beginning with C (capas... something or other) that I sometimes use in between using the Nizoral that also works really well.

I shampoo my hair with the Nizoral shampoo then rub in the lather on my skin that has the rash and it really has made a massive difference.

KurriKurri - yes it was on prescription. Don't know whether it's suitable for use on your face but it certainly did the trick for ds2. Good luck Xmas Smile

thanks everyone, - some very helpful suggestions for me to try, - hope its been useful for you too Selks

I don't have it on my scalp, just my face at the moment, but I could just lather up a bit of the shampoo and try it on my face, def. worth a go.

dd has it on her scalp and at times around nose and on her ears. I find fucidn stangley works on the nose and ears, but was not prescribed for this was actually prescribed for impetigo but clears the nose and ears up in one application shame it doesnt clear up the impetigo.

The nizarol does nothing for dds scalp as its pretty horendus on her scalp, her hair falls out and its so thick etc, however she had a terrible bout of it at the end of the summer and the dr prescribed betnovate solution or ointment cant check as its on top of her wardrobe and she is asleep think it cam be applied to the face aswell maybe stronger than the hydrocortisone cream. when I stoped using the nizarol i strated using head and shoulders and so either that or the only two applications of the betnovate during september seems to have cured her scalp.

Another vote for Nizoral. I get it on prescription, and use it on my hairline and eyebrows, as well as by my nose. It is a bit drying, but it doesn't irritate.

thanks ladies, I can't use the fucidin - my face reacts badly to it for some reason. I will def. give the Nizoral a go - its had so many recommendations.

I will ask the GP about the betnovate festi, - I'm glad your DD's scalp cleared up - must be horrid for a child to have it, - I struggle not to scratch at it!
