Was this bad contraception advice??

I was on the combined pill for years during which time I used to suffer hellish migraines starting on day 2-3 of my period. At the family planning clinic they said I could just take it continually and stop once in a while so that I only got a headache say once every 3 months instead of once every month. I did this until I came off the pill to start a family. My own doctor said she would have had reservations about putting me on any kind of pill if I got such migraines. Any experiences or wisdom??

I came off the pill when I started to get migraines and cramps in my legs.

I used to get headaches as well during the withdrawal week, and was given exactly the same advice as you by FPC doctor. I would imagine that they are less worried by withdrawal headaches than by other headaches (as it's the lack of pill rathe than the pill causing the headaches) iyswim. When I explained this to my GP, she looked a bit surprised, but didn't object!
