on friday night ds1 (10) and ds2 (6) both started with coughs and temperatures although ds1 hadn't seemed his usual self for a couple of days before.
doctor gave antibiotics on monday and since then they have been o.k during the day but hot again in the night although still coughing a lot.
ds1 still isn't eating which is TOTALLY out of character for him. ds2 seems happy to play but chest sounds awful.
decided last night that they should be o.k for school this morning but then ds1 felt hot again and ds2 looked awful pale and coughing so i've kept them at home.
but, i was almost in tears not knowing what i should do with them and felt really worried this morning, i'm just not cut out for this and i feel really down and anxious. I guess i'm just not a confident mum.
Help! any words of wisdom? think i'm losing the plot.

try and put a positive gloss on it - have fun with them today at home and then school tomorrow.

Try and be creative and have fun today and then is will pass more quickly.

yeah, thanx
I did kind of take that approach yesterday, thinking they would be going to school today. Maybe i'm being too soft.
I am worried about ds1 though because he's always so healthy and if he gets anything it's never more than a day or two. it's ds2 that has a problem with his immune system.
I thought the anti-b's would have got them fighting fit by now.

festiveface, remember when you were wee and felt ill. All you wanted was your mummy, well that's what you're doing.

Just being there to give them a wee cuddle or pats on the back when the coughing gets bad, is all you need to do. The antibiotics should be kicking soon!! Just keep an eye on their temperatures.

Are you sure you're not coming down with it as well?

They're probably not doing that much at school at the moment anyway, just Christmasy stuff and rehearsals. I always keep my dd an extra day if I'm sure she's well enough to go back to school. I feel much happier to be on the safe side and she seems to recover quicker.

It's much better to keep them home until they are better, rather than send them back, find they're not better and end up with poorly kids at christmas, mine are at home today i'd rather they missed some of this week than next week with concerts and parties etc

I think it's better to be off school when not that ill then going to school when you really are ill.
And I'm saying that sitting at work feeling dreadful with cough/cold and headache!
