Shes 21 months and was fine then went out of the room, came back 2 seconds later and her fash mainly one side and under her chin is red, puffy and has red blotches and bumps on it. It looks like an allergic reaction, similar to the rash you get with anaphylactic shoch although its been like it for 10 minutes now and there is no breathing difficulty so obviously not an emergency.
Any ideas what it is, she hasn't eaten anything different

Have you used any air fresheners, perfumes or other chemicals in the area where she went?

has she had the horrible cold cough flu thing thats been going around. Have just taken my dd to the docs with as very similar rash to this, on her face and her hands and feet randomly. They said it is urticaria (which means an allergic reaction) but it is probably an allergy to this flu virus thing and from being run down, not to anything she has eaten etc. They recommended Piriton syrup (do you have any?) it takes the rash down and helps them sleep if it is itchy.

How is the rash now?

DD had this for a week. No other symptoms. It was from her shampoo. Like me, she's allergic to sodium lauryl sulphates.

We used Napier's Infant Starflower cream on it and it went away.

yep both my dd's get post viral urticaria, if they get a cold then it just appears, looks dreadful but really is nothing to concern yourself with, keep giving the piriton and as long as she seems well enough in herself then please don't worry.

She may well get it again but at least you'll know what it is! btw my dd2 had it last week and has now got the most stinking cold.....stock up on the Calpol just in case!
