Worried about ds - is it thrush? Please help.

Briefly, ever since ds was prescribed a course of antibiotics three weeks ago he has had what the Gp says is balanitis. As it started when he was on the 1st course, GP prescribed a second course - it seemed to go but then came back 5 days into the (7 day) course. Went back and saw a different GP (I asked if it could be thrush and she said no) - she prescribed a broader-spectrum antibiotic (he's just finished that course). However, the end of his willy is looking sore again. HOW can it be bacterial when 3 different antibiotics haven't made it better? What can I do to help him? Is it thrush (he DID have thrush round his bottom after the 1st course of antibiotics). Off to see a homeopath tomorrow... Just at wits end really. Feel I should avoid taking him to GP as he'll only put him on ANOTHER course of antibios.... (or will he?) sorry to ramble, thanks for reading. Dinny

Could well be thrush, and could have been caused by him taking antibiotics.

Have you got any Canesten in the house? Try a bit of Canesten on his willy, it won't hurt to try and if it's thrush it will sort him out.

WWB, I do feel it must be thrush (esp as I am really prone to it after antibiotics). But GP looked v carefully and said it didn't look like thrush as is just inflamed, no discharge. Have Canestan so will try some after his bath. Just feel so stressed as he's had so many problems lately (all around backside!)

Wigwambam, just to say thanks for the advice as put Canestan on for a couple of days and (touch wood) his willy looks OK. Thank you!
