Poo Weirdness (sorry!)

DS1 (4) seems to have some sort of tummy bug. He had two explosive scary poos on Monday. Nothing yesterday, one scary poo this morning. I've only seen one of the scary poos, but they're very runny.

He's eating and drinking well. He's full of energy. School are ok with him being there, as long as I leave a change of clothes.

I've been giving Dioralyte. Do I just carry on like this? At what point do I go see a doctor?

I have mild IBS, and sometimes, in the past, my stomach would get stuck like this ... I always ended up using Immodium to sort it out. Dioralyte seemed to do the trick if I was pregnant or BF, though ...

There are some shocking bugs out there at the moment NCQ, poor ds. The last time i saw the GP about one for dd1 she said they can last up to 10 days and just suggested some acidopholus as well as keeping her rehydrated

But I thought if it was a bug, he'd be in pain, or unhappy or something. He's just pooing lots. (But not often!)

Maybe some acidopholus, I can get yogurt with it in, yes?

yes you can get it in yoghurt. i suppose some bugs don't actually hurt and kids are pretty robust

My ds1 had a bug a bit like this a couple of months ago...scary poos for nearly 2 weeks but no sickness and he was perfectly well in himself, so it could well be a bug.

try actimel once a day, to give his tummy plenty of good bacteria, tho can upto 2 weeks to get to a good level.

Oh, I'm glad to hear someone else's kid has had this, and recovered. I really don't want him to have IBS, and I don't want to give him Immodium.

It's good the school are being mellow about it at least. Now if I can just get the bloomin' washing machine fixed ... the poo accidents are not helping this problem!
