Friend has a second womb infection - what now?

I have a friend who had her ds 10 days after me by c-section, and she is now on a second course of antibiotics for a womb infection - her uterus has not shrunk down sufficiently and she is in some pain, and still bleeding. If these antibiotics don't work, what will happen next? Anyone know?

i had a similar prob after ds2 was born, they suspected that i had retained some membrane, i was told that the next option would be for me to have some tablets that make your womb contract down, thus passing out the retained products, or a d andc, this could be the next step for your friend if it is retained products, hopefully though the second course should sort it out.

Yes, I wondered about d and c - is that a day patient procedure? She is bottlefeeding so she is ok to take any medication so that's one less worry for her.

its normally a day procedure these days, but she would need to take it easy for 24 hours when she got home and its not unusual to bleed more heavily for a while, im sure it wont come to that, i eventually passed out a bit of membrane in a large clot and then my womb started to contract down, so avoided any other treatment.
