Am not that keen to try it. Any ideas?

I have one but I only use it about once a week after shaving armpits (normal stuff stings). You wet it quickly under the tap and then rub it in. Works fine usually but you know I'm not sure I would trust it in this heat. You will still perspire so have to get used to that feeling.

If you're not going out, give it a go!

Just read an article about these today. Apparently they are the natural alternative to normal deoderant which people are beginning to suspect may be linked to breast cancer. The article said one crystal should last a year. It sounds like it wouldn't hurt to try it, in fact it might be a better choice than the usual stuff.

What are they?

This was from the article in the Sunday Times Style mag from 29 July. It says it is a natural crystal made from alunite, a mineral that has deodorising properties and which was first used in ancient Egypt and China. The brand recommended is called Deokrystal from Green People, www.organic-healthcare-greenpeople.co.uk

The link between cancer and deodorants is not conclusively proved but it says here that one of the researchers stopped using commercial antiperspirants.

Thanks, Janster. It sounds like there'd be no harm in trying it, cod.

Oh and I have folks. I can report that there is less sweat at cod Towers!

My sister used it in Lanzagrotty and can also vouch for it.

Takes a while to get used to no spray or scent but you can always use Chanel Number 5 I suppose and write it off as a necessity!

Just to let you know that the Crystal deodorant and nearly every other deodorant has what is called aluminium salts in it and, as most of us know, aluminium salts is linked with both alzheimers and breast cancer and has been banned in most European countries.

Did you know that the reason why most people get breast cancer in the left breast is because most people are right handed and spray heavier under the left armpit than the right.

I use a deodorant without aluminium salts in it as my Mum got breast cancer at 25.

For anyone who doesn't know, aluminium salts are the white marks that deodorant leaves when you spray it....

and in my opinion, men are just as much at risk as women - my dp used to spray LOADS of deodorant when i first met him...... he does now, but just with mine instead!

Coddy I am about to go into a product rant as I am wont to do because I LURVE my solid deoderant thingy that I get from Lush! It smells lovely is dead easy to use, and I can't honestly say that I've noticed that I get any sweatier with it. In fact DH who is one of THE most sweaty men on the planet uses the one that smells of patchouli from there (as he is allergic to the aluminium) and he now smells lovely all day long, which he NEVER did before with ordinary deoderants and he is no wetter than before either. I positively insist that you go and buy some immediately.....OK you can wait until the morning...but I will be checking

I'm sure crystal ones don't have aluminium. Mine doesn't anyway - surely that's the point...!?

Just to thank you for your recommendation WedgiesMum. I hate the smell of most deodorants and do not always find them 100per cent effective - I spent most of the summer smelling of a combination of overpowering chemicals and sweat - ugh! and I never like the idea of aluminium. So when I was last in town I called into Lush and with some scepticism I bought a solid deodorant bar - and it is wonderful! I have been through an extremely stressful day at work - and rushing around like a mad thing after a toddler with no sweat at all - wonderful! Will recommend to anyone who cares to listen - I could become a deodorant bore!

Glad it's worked - I'm a bit obsessed about it myself and can happily rant for hours on the subject, but it HAS done wonders for DH who now smells fragrant and lovely......
