"My Willy Hurts" constantly at 2.5yrs

My DS has been complaining ever since he could speak that when ever his willy gets some attention (from him!) and does what boys willies do that it hurts. He is becoming increasingly distressed at this, its not as if he is forever playing with it but I don't want him to feel too scared to touch it.
I was wondering if his foreskin was too tight, when he wees the end of his penis tends to baloon before the wee comes out, I talke to my hv about this ages ago and she said to leave well alone. I have made a dr apt this pm - any ideas on how to put this, or if I am even doing the right thing by making one?

I think seeing the GP is a good idea - if his willy has been hurting him for such a long time then something isn't right.

Just tell the GP what you've written here - write it down, if that makes it easier, and just give the GP the piece of paper to read.

that doesn't mean you should do anything with his foreskin .. you should leave it well alone .. though he may need circumcising but that will be up to professionals

My nephew had the same thing and ended up having his foreskin whipped off, just was hoping that I was wrong - ouch

I think they will sometimes recommend a round of steroid cream. I would definitely ask about alternatives before circumcision.

There may be something they can do to help without resorting to surgery, but you won't know until you take him.

Poor little soul, he must be so uncomfortable. I hope the GP can do something to make him feel better.

well, the appointment is at 4.30, which will be fun cos ds 2 (just over a 1yr) is coming too and I have to persuade ds1 to show the dr his willy (he has become quite prtective of it).

He's already told me he won't, and that a police man will tell me off if I try to make him - wish me luck!

Oh good luck!

I was told that DS's foreskin was tight when he was about 3 months. We were living in Bulgaria and they are OBSESSED by willies! There they manually pull the foreskin back - makes me shiver to think of it! I got a second opinion from a doc in Dublin who said leave well enough alone - if there are any infections or he complains of pain then they would circumcise - properly with anaesthetic. We have had no probs since.

However DS has just had surgery for an undescended testicle and it was tricky to get him to show his 'bits' to anyone - one appointment he claimed it was too cold to pull down his pants. Another he would yank them up again as quick as I pulled them down! You had to laugh really.

Hope all goes well. It is probably better to get it sorted now rather than later though.

well, he said that it was tight, but they would do anything until he was 4, unless he continued complaining. He said that I have to pull it back in the batch and put a steriod cream on it for a few weeks to see if that makes a difference. When he was pulling back ds's foresking I thought he was going to "pop" his willy - it did not look nice!

So, we will have to see. Looks worse now, v v v v sore bless him
