Caesarian scar painful after 19 months

Has anyone experienced a painful scar after so long?

I went to the GP, who had a prod, and said it was nerve endings, and prescribed me Ibugel!!??!!

I'm not convinced.

Don't know if this could be related, but I've just been informed I have extremely low iron levels, and been prescribed 3 Ferrous Sulphate tabs a day.

Haven't had a section but I fell about 6 months ago and cut my forehead badly and end up with 5 stitches. Althouhg it has healed and the scar has faded (thank you Dermatix gel!) it is still painful and numb (contradictory I know) and itchy. Strikes me that a c-section scar being much deep would take longer to heal.

Lavender oil is very healing. I mixed it with pure vit E gel also.

based on my torn muscles of yesteryear, it could be scar tissue? A physio should be able to 'pummel' it to break it down.

My scar felt fine after a couple of weeks I'm afraid - but I did have staples. Don't know if that makes a difference.

I have heard of it. Mine cleared up much earlier. How does it look? Still red and raised? I would think they could remove some scar tissue or something but don't know a whole lot about it. I think someone on here had a similar experience and subsequent c-section was much better. Are you planning to have any more children?

I had a c-section 3 1/2 years ago and I still get pain on my scar. It does get less painful as time goes by, but I find if I lift something heavy it hurts.

I was referred back to the hospital last year, the DR said it could be an infection or scar tissue.

I had a scan done and it I had a cyst which was causing pain as it passed the scar tissue. There isn't anything they can do about it though. If the cyst had been bigger they would have rescanned me. It is possible to have some scar tissue removed (I've had 2 sections) but I decided the pain wasn't bad enough for me to want another operation!

Ask your Dr if you can be referred for a scan so they know what is going on.

Thanks for all your messages, I think I may go back and see a different GP.

No - it is not red and raised. It is quite pale and neat luckily.

No - no plans for more kids. (that's another story)

Sorry to hear that Suzy, I'd most certianly get to see another Dr about it. Mine only hurts when it's pulled on and it was done 10 months ago. I was recently scanned for new baby and they were pressing really ahrd on the scar which was uncomfortable, but no throbbing pains like you describe. i hope you get it sorted out soon,
x

Mine is still giving me probs after 4 years(2nd time) but mine gets red and infected so nothing like yours sound, ask to see a different doctor and push for a scan as it may be the internal scar rather than the one you see.
Good Luck
