I am applying for a job that has the desirable criteria of previous exp of Oracle Financials, I have looked on their website but it's very techie and I just want to get an understanding of what the package does and what it's used for so I could explain how I think I could use it. Any help gratefully received. TIA

Er, the clue is in the name . It is essetially an accounting package.

There is no point trying to bluff this, either you have used it or you haven't. If you haven't, stress the experience you have had on other accounting/ERP systems - SAP, Coda, Systems Union, whatever.

Sales ledger, Purchase ledger, Nominal ledger, Financial reporting, VAT reporting, possibly sales/purchase order processing, job costing, project accounting depending on the type of industry... same as any other accounting package.
