I haven't used one for years so can't recommend a good one. google freeware broadband usage monitor if no one suggests one.
If you post what router you have someone might know some software that will read it directly and give you the total download figures. The problem with having one on each computer is that they often include files copied between the PCs which is no use.

Come to think of it don't your ISP have a page that tells you how much you used?

I'm with BT (who are changing the way they charge) & they told me to go & get one so I am assuming they don't show me on their page - but I will check

10GB is quite a lot... I use on average less than 2GB a month. In January, I used 1.07 GB.
I don't watch on-line video (BBCIplayer for example), or listen to internet radio.

Are BT telling you that you are often close to, or exceeding your usage? Does BT provide you details on your bills with regard to how much data usage you have used that month?

Your broadband router may well keep statistics. Login to the router and see what options there are.

Try the Broadband Choices Download Monitor. Note: There are special instructions for installing on Vista.
It is Free but registration is required. It will need to be installed on each computer you want to monitor.
