Hi there,

I just downloaded something from the Boots website and it opened up with Adobe. Trouble is it says I can't launch Adobe without opening at least one other suite component like Adobe Photoshop (which I did do)
It still doesn't work, what am I doing wrong?

So was it a PDF file? So you are trying to launch Adobe Reader or Acrobat? That messages makes no sense!

I didn't think ithe message made much sense either. I will try and copy it word for word:

"Adobe Acrobat 8 professional cannot be launched at this time. You must launch at least one other suite component (such as Adobe Photoshop) before launching Acrobat 8 professional"

Yes it is a pdf file.

I've no idea what I'm doing. Thought it would be easy enough to download a sodding birth plan from the Boots website!

I have never seen that error and I use Acrobat 8 all the time.

I think I would go to the Adobe site and search their knowledge base for an answer. Its quite good and extensive.

...you have got the 'professional' version installed for some reason.

Unless you are using this for website design or the like, you don't need it!

I suggest you uninstall it, and download this for free instead. It will open PDFs for you, which is all most people need for everyday use

That will solve her problem retiredgoth but doesn't explain it. I use Acrobat Professional daily at work and have never seen that error message ever. And she said she has Photoshop, so may have CS.

Great thank you retiredgoth2 I'll do that. Tee What's CS? My DP uses Photoshop. I've only ever used it for making pictures smaller. I wouldn't know how to use it for anything else.
Maybe I should ask DP about uninstalling it. Don't know if he uses it for his 3d amimation?

Adobe CS, its a package you can buy with all of their graphic programmes. If you DH does animation, he may have that. And he probably does need Photoshop for that.
