Anyone know how to make animated slideshow icons?

After much trial and error and a great deal of swearing (I'm sort of teaching myself as I go along) I've managed to figure out how to make these icons using GIMP. The problem is they don't seem to work properly - rather than each frame showing at the same framerate (400ms) and in the right order, frames 3 and 4 (of 4) seem to want to do their own thing. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but what was originally a piece of fun has turned into an epic battle of wills between me and GIMP and I will not lose.

(Oh and huge apologies for making icons in the first place, not very 'MN' I know )

Good luck, every battle of wills I have had with GIMP, I have lost. Did you follow this tutorial? It all looks so easy doesn't it? If you have the right delays set in the layer comments, then I am afraid i can't help much more than that - I wreaked my revenge by uninstalling GIMP and vowing never to use it again.

I have seen that tutorial before but didn't read it properly - it gives a different way of fixing the framerate than I was doing so I might try it their way and see if it helps. thanks

I don't mind GIMP when I can figure it out (it was free, can't complain that much lol) it's just not the most intuitive package!

I have done it before...I just folllowed a tutorial though. I seem to remember there being something subtle towards the end of the tutorial that was quite critical though.

Have you got your layers in teh right order to fix that part?

It seems to be working now - still looks odd when I look at it in my 'pictures' folder on the PC, but I put it on LJ and it seems to be behaving itself

Changing the framerate in the layers rather than when I save it seems to have worked.
