Got tesco £14.99 cheapy mobile phone - how do i delete the messages?

its a motorola black slim phone, the cheapest one at tescos.
i have messages waiting but cant read them as i cant figure out how to delete old messages!

the leaflet is no help at all.

you have to press the arrow(top left), then a picture of an open envelope press the green button and you will have your inbox and then you go to the end by pressing the right arrow on the silver disc but just keep going and then press the up arrow.
