What email provider is it? Some can only be accessed on a website as webmail, but pop3 is the next most likely.

The pop3 information would be something like pop.tiscali.co.uk. If you know the email provider we can probably look it up.

I'm afraid hotmail is webmail only unless there is a new paid service that's come out recently. You have to log on to the website to read and send mail.
The reason is that it's paid for by you seeing their adverts on the site.

If you would like an alternative I believe Yahoo and Gmail both have pop3 options.

Yahoo I just realised charges you for the pop3 option.

Hey Sparkles, if by Windows mail you mean hotmail/Windows Live mail then you should be able to use http as the protocol if you're using outlook express or outlook.

Hotmail no longer allows email access via Outlook Express for free Hotmail/MSN accounts

Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 can use the Outlook Connector to access a free Hotmail account.

Or you can download Live mail get.live.com/gbb which I thought was a new name for the webmail page, but is actually a program. Probably one with adverts in to pay for the 'free' email.

That last link should be Windows Live Mail
