Hi can any one reccommend a good sat nav for DH?

tomtom one works fine for us...its been a revelation!!

dh tested the Tomtom and the Garmin - the former found his parents' house and the latter didn't, so we have a Tomtom thus - tis cheaper (thus) if you only want the uk not europe.

Also you can ask it to pint out places of interest where you are and the nearest restaurant etc etc

DP got me tomtom for xmas as I get lost everywhere I go.
It is good for getting me to places.... after I ignore the first 100 yards of every journey as it tells me to go up my street in the direction of the dead end at the top!

I like the 'quick, direct me to the nearest garage!' feature, or the Panic Button, as we call it...

the one I linked to is bundled with a carry case, a mains charger (the one you linked to has an in-car charger) and an extra bunch of voices - the actual unit itself is the same as the £120 Comet one

They do plug into the car, but you can charge them at home as well, then they last a couple of hours on the batteries without plugging them into the car.

I don't know why you'd need that particularly - I've only used that feature once, when I was in the car by myself, the lead got caught under the passenger seat so I couldn't plug it in without stopping. Other than that I always plug mine in the car.

I have the TomTom 720, and it is totally fab - but only got that one as DHs work had some deal with them, so was 1/2 price.
The bluetooth connection is great for me as I drive for work a lot, and it has all the places of interest built in.

Make sure the fag lighter in the car works before getting sat nav... dp couldn't understand why I was looking at him like this when I opened my tomtom on xmas day.
I can't go anywhere more than an hours drive away or the battery conks!! Or two hours if I can remember the way back

Dh's car doesn't have a lighter - it has a 12V socket is that the same?

Yes I'm sure its the same, last time I shopped for a car was 8 years ago and they called em cigarette lighters then!

(Tis still running perfectly for an old banger, apart from the fag lighter )
