Please can you help me listen to more Radio 4

I want to find a way to 'listen again' to radio programmes that I've missed when originally broadcast.

In an ideal world, I'd switch Radio 4 on when I wake up and switch it off when I go to bed. But when real life gets in the way, I miss some of my favourite programmes - especially the News Quiz and I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. I think they are both on the BBC listen again website, but I also think that I need to listen to them on my computer.

Is there any other way to listen again if I've missed a prog (ie, if I've forgotten to listen or record). We don't have cable/freeview/digital radio/ipod/fancy mobile phones!/mp3 players/that pretty much covers any new technology other than computer I think! And our computer is old and slow and matched by slow dial up connection.

Please can you help?

Bosch, I'm sorry, but I think that unless you have something to download the programme onto (ie an MP3 player or similar)you will not have any luck. and I'd be impressed if you could listen to it on your PC if it's only a dialup connection.

The only thing I can think of may sound really silly, but to set an alarm on your mobile/watch/cooker that morning, to remind you when the programme is on, so you at least remember to record it. V.v. low techI'm afraid!

There are two choices. All the best programmes are broadcast twice a week anyway (e.g. 12.30 lunchtime and 6.30 evening), so listen to the repeats.

Secondly, use podcasting. This BBC link explains it.

So, still needing broadband and something like an MP3 if she is not going to have to sit at her computer to listen to it??? Do let me know if you have success doing this with dial up, as I haven't been able to.

Good luck!

you can get digital radios that record/let you pause live radio. However they are pricey - probably cheaper and easier to get broadband.

Just don't let real life get in the way of ISIHAC. Get your priorities straight![ grin]

All you need is a nice little radio with headphones. Radio in pocket, phones in ears, get on making dinner with an inane grin and occasional inexplicable chortles. It is even possible to supervise homework if you have one ear plugged in and the other half-listening to the child.

Thanks for the advice chaps.

Am not entirely averse to getting more technology, like mp3 player, just never found the need to so far. Am not absolutely sure what an mp3 player is however.

Not even managed to download the (real player?) software from BBC website yet - possibly not unconnected to my dial up connection. Guess I may have to invest in broadband anyway sometime soon.

Think I'll record ISIHAC onto good old-fashioned audio tape next monday!
