I have volunteered to do a website for a local group, i am a java programmer who has a limited knowledge of javascript.

So i want a really flashy looking framework i think it is mainly to show photos with a contact page and maybe diary page ( linked to google diary would be excellent so the user could update it herself).

So any recommendations? With examples you have done would be excellent.

Take a look at WordPress, it can be hosted or you can run your own LAMP stack. Many ISPs will have the option of installing WordPress and then you can install your choice of plugins and themes.

The look and feel of the site is controlled via themes, just pick one you like.

Foundation, or Bootstrap but I personally prefer the former.

Correction, node.js uses javascript backend which is easily exploitable.
Instead I'd say angular javascript
