Hi, my ipad is getting a bit old and slow and thinking about changing to the surface pro. But don't know anyone with one, do any of you have one and could give the pros and cons?

I will miss that the photos I take on my iphone won't just pop up like they do on my ipad, but I'm sure there are benefts to the surface pro.

I like that I can use a pen with it and photoshop looks easier to use with the surface pro, and obviously there is the keyboard if you want it. Have read online reviews but was hoping for some clever MN users that could give me their views.

Thank you for that networkguy just watched the video and it's really helpful. And thank you orangemog I didn't know you can install the apple photo stream app that's brilliant as I could still take photos with my iPhone. I do really love the look of it, and seems the best of both worlds.

On that video he says that if you are after a tablet then maybe the surface pro isn't the best, as it's more of a laptop. But doesn't say which is the best, I'm assuming an apple tablet of some sort a newer ipad maybe? as he seems to be an apple man more than a PC.

Going to look on the Thurrot website now to see if it says what tablet he thinks is best.

Thank you orangemob you are right it does depend what I do with it I suppose. Maybe if I list what I would like to do maybe someone IT smart could say what they think would be best?

I don't need to Play games. I find a lot that if I want to change my details on a website or access certain parts of a website an ipad won't let me do it and I have to use a laptop. Would a new ipad/surface pro solve that problem?

Also watching videos on youtube don't always play on an ipad, it says you must view it on a PC, does a surface pro solve that problem?

networkguy a chrome book looks interesting but the tablet features of size/lightness and ease of moving about is what draws me to the ipad and the surface pro.

Would be interested to know if PhotoFiltre (the free version) would run on Surface Pro 3 or the HP Stream 8 (I should think there's a version as it was developed for Windows a while ago).

The HP Stream 8 includes Office 365 Personal which can be upgraded if one was to consider a new desktop / laptop (with a 300-400 pound pricetag) after Windows 10 has been launched.

(I'm thinking that for the same money as the Surface Pro 3, one could have 2 systems, running Office 10 in due course, and with Office 365 Personal, both machines would have full access to MS Office apps, and clearly if there was ever a problem with one device, then the other could be used... compared with sending the Surface 3 for repair and being without.)

Very helpful, thank you both so much. I'm off to PC world tomorrow to have a proper look at one, and feel the weight.
