Talk to me about TVs please!

We currently have ancient (huge, as in depth not screen size) TV and Sky+

I would like to ditch the sky contract and buy a new TV with built in Freeview plus recorder and DVD player.

Any recommendations?

I would not have everything in one device.

I would look at getting a Full HD TV, 3D Capable, with built in Freeview HD tuner.

Something like this LG.

Then I would look to add a Freeview HD Plus (recorder). Having that separate means that if the storage goes bad, you can send for repair or replace without sending off the entire TV. Also depending on the setup you may be able to record two channels and do something completely different on the TV, such as stream a movie or use iPlayer. Freeview+ recorder.

DVD - cheap DVD player with an HDMI output. One from LG if you fancy things all the same brand.

Or do you have to have it all in-built?

What budget?

Ooh, good point about not having it all in one in case something breaks. I was just thinking it would be neater.
Budget is up to £600. We do have a DVD player so I could just attach that and not buy a new one.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Having separate components makes much more sense.

Next job to agree with DH on screen size.
