Building apps

I want to start building apps- I need a new hobby!

Do I need a mac? I need a new laptop anyway but have always had windows as I write as well. Don't mind a change though.

There are a couple of free courses on Coursera that you could look into taking:

I've not taken any of them so can't comment on them.

From a quick look at the software they use to teach, any operating system should be fine so you'd be fine with a mac but don't need one.
