Phone won't recognise photos on sd card

Samsung Galaxy Ace , camera/gallery says no memory card detected even though the sd card is in and it "prepares" it when I take out and replace. Is it just because battery is lower?

Phone now fully charged but now only finds 10 photos under Gallery and Camera will only review 5 or so (not most recent). What devices can read a mini SD card so I can check if the pictures are still on there ?

If you have a laptop with a card reader, you can use that but you will need an adapter, which shouldn't cost much. You can then use photorec or recuva to extract any 'deleted' photos.

On further investigation today I've found the pics stored under My Files / DCIM. I think this means they are on the SD card not the phone itself ? I can't seem to open them individually on the phone though . Just realised a couple of apps have disappeared too Confused.Thinking of going back to Carphone Warehouse as phone is less than a year old but can't find receipt.

update: went to CPW explained problem to an assistant who fiddled with the phone, took microSD card out while it was running and then couldn't get phone to recognise it all. He was then told by another bloke that he shouldn't have done that as he may have wiped it Hmm. So after some sheepish apologies we were told to try it with an adapter in our pc but it may need reformatting of it now had nothing on and if it did have data still on they would send the phone for repair . Have managed to copy over 2/3 of the pics , but for some reason the pc is having problems copying certain photos and keeps asking me to insert SD card even though it lists it Confused Looks like phone will need to go back but at least I was told it had a 2 year guarantee.

Sounds to me your SD card is faulty more than the phone.

but am wondering if the phone has corrupted the sd card or not saved the pictures properly. How could we tell ?
