IPad mini

I've decided that Santa is going to bring me an ipad mini for christmas this year. I'm confused about which one he will choose. DH says I need the retina because it has a better processor. Is this true? Will 16 GB be big enough? I will use it to play mindless games, educational apps for the kids, general browsing of the internet and literature searches with Mendeley.

I would say you'd be fine with the 16gb one. I've never ever had a problem with not having enough storage. I use it for all you want to use it for and also storing reading material for uni.

I would also say get the retina one too. It is only marginally better than the previous but I would always say get the newest you can simply because technology moves on so quickly.

I absolutely adore my iPad. I use it every single day so definitely money well spent for my needs. Get your order in with the jolly bearded fella!

I have one I got it a few weeks ago and I loooove it..... the old one though, not the retina one. I got the 16gb and I'm hapy to confirm that's big enough for several apps and two, yes two, full albums. So far. I assume it holds more though!

Tiny Tower is great.

Oooops mine is actually 32gb, I thought I'd gotten the lesser one! I was just looking at the usage bit and realised how much crap I have on here that I don't use. Deleted a few apps but still using over 16gb. And I don't have any videos on here yet, just a couple of albums from spotify. Not even my itunes library. I think I should have gone with the 64gb one!

Do you have an iphone? If you do and you use it to take photos and video and think you will want to store them on your ipad mini then you may want more GB. Depends how you store your photos and videos.

Downloading a lot of films or TV programmes to watch later takes up a lot of GB. I download loads of programmes from BBC IPlayer to watch when I am flying and overseas. Again, it depends how you will use your mini.

Hmm, maybe its best if I go for a 32 GB. Dh has a 1st generation iPad which is 32GB and that has always been ok for family use. I don't have an iPhone, mine is an android but I'm quite happy with the fact that they are incompatible with each other. I don't really watch iplayer on tablets but could see the usefulness in having it for when we're out with the kids.

I'm trying to work out the best offer. I was hoping they'd have them in the Apple store back friday savings but they don't. Currys has cashback offer, Tesco has £20 off voucher and I have John Lewis vouchers so I'm going to speak with them this morning and see if they will price match one of the discounts.

I'd honestly go for the biggest memory you can afford. Our 32gig is almost full and there is no music on there however there are approx 7 children's films. The 64gig one is about 60% full with the same apps, films as well as music.
